I walk along the beach. I feel the sunlight on my skin and the sand between my toes – and I am miserable. There is paradise around me, and hell rages in my mind. Ever since I started traveling, I developed a horrible habit: not eating all day and then going crazy in the evening.

I started this as a self-experiment because I read that fasting all day and then having one big meal is even better than fasting just until lunch. Here's the problem: I am afflicted by 'hangryness.' If I don't eat, I get cranky. It's one of my character traits that I am least fond of. Maybe this approach to eating fits other people. It might even fit you perfectly. But it's not for me. Then it hit me: what other strategies that I read might fit the people who wrote them down but don't fit me at all?

I think there are some universal truths that hold up for every person, such as eating healthy and getting enough sleep. But after that, it's open season. What might work for somebody else might not work for you and vice versa. We are all individuals. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. A mass-produced piece of clothing will never fit you as well as a tailored piece. So it is with life strategies.

You don't need another diet. You don't need another workout routine. What you need is to experiment. Then you will find the way that doesn't just fit but is tailored perfectly for you.
